The Narrow Mind Post Debate Radio Interview Feedback

Hey Dan - heard you and your friend on Narrow Mind,  It is interesting how quickly Calvinists get angry when you start pointing out what the Bible actually says to them. Ya'll interacted in a very kind, reasonable spirit - excellent. You ran circles around them the whole time. If you don't know about it already, you may be interested in this:  trinities.org/blog

You gents know the Bible so well, that I'd be priviledged to have your comments occasionally.
If you read carefully, you'll see that this is no ordinary "trinitarian" site. You may also benefit from some of my papers, referenced here: http://filosofer.googlepages.com/dt.html

I'm not a "biblical unitarian", but I'm inclined to think that is a biblically defensible position. I have noticed that crucial planks of their case are philosophical (thus, debatable), and not obviously biblical.

Also, I'm a house church guy. I've found these guys to have a lot of integrity: http://www.ntrf.org/

As a Christian philosopher, I can tell you with the utmost seriousness: watch out for some of those "emergent" types - there's a lot of crap philosophy they're peddling. But most of it's just carefully calculated hipness & carefully tuned attitude. No movement like that can last (and also bring about good).

God bless,

Hey Dan, The link is the one that did it. We had a very enjoyable evening in listening to your radio debate. I had no idea it would go on for so long! It was a real marathon.

Having discussed it we both agree that you delivered a masterclass in unitarian apologetics. You came across as totally cool and confident in what you believe, yet humble at the same time.

You and Patrick showed a complete mastery of the material and fielded all the questions very assertively and thoroughly.

The Dj just seemed to want to bring up the most obscure and weird reasons for believing in the Trinity yet seemed to fail to grasp what you were saying about ontology. He was so off the wall that a couple of times you guys just seemed totally lost for words, like as if you were silently saying "what the... ? ... ".

It amazed me that after all that debating it came down to the fact that you hadn't been saved because if you had, the spirit of God would have led you to agree with him. Circular reasoning or what?!? Worse still, that the reason why you were lost is that God had blinded your minds. So now it's God's fault that you're obstinate heretics- you're so blinded you even believe that God wants everyone to be saved. Outrageous.

I also didn't like the way he made a couple of points after you were no longer on line, giving you no chance to respond. If just wasn't very sporting of him.

When all's said and done, I don't think you could have done any better than you did, even if you'd been given the chance to rehearse the questions and answers beforehand. You made me and Cel so proud to be unitarians. I'm going to keep this audio on file for reference.

Keep the faith my brother, please send my warmest regards to Patrick as well,

Hey Dan, I have just been  listening to the debate. Grrrrrrrr!   Well, it seems we have a different God and Religion since we aren't on the same page and view  (our) Jesus  through  the  clouded and distorted lens as they!   Why am I not surprised?   Frankly Dan, I have a lot to say about "little Tin Gods such as him in my book.   I think you and Patrick did very well.  You stuck to the scriptures, and  their parallel  verses to clarify, substantiate  and validate your point.    He (Gene)  and the (others) do  what all  Trinitarians  do,  and that is  dance around the issue - a little spin here, a twist there etc.   Their case is  generally  shallow, and  must  rely  upon  "Inference,  distortions, misinterpretations and misrepresentation  of "proof text"  to  validate their  argument.    Yes,  it appears  at times they  DO have some valid points,  but upon closer scrunity, they can be  unraveled.  You'll held you own just fine!

I really  enjoyed listening   to the debate and have listened to it twice, trying to absorb how  "cleverly"  they do thier little Trinitarian dance.   They really go for the "doubting Thomas," and" Emmanuel"  verses EVERY time!!   Those  two and the "Father and I are One, are  the   perennially  overused  and abused scriptures.  Truth is, that is the sum total  "proof text"  that  most Trinitrians are aware,  or at least that has been my experience with my fellow brethren in Chruch.

I liked your website, very impressive!. The Graphics  are great  and I will be praying  that it will be very successful.   I haven't had a chance to read all the material, but will be getting to it this week.  I have had a bad rash that won't go away, and my husband has a pinched  nerve and can't walk.  Sooooo, haven't  had enouch  time to really go over  everything, but  promise to check it out this week.

You know Dan, I could not handle myself well in a debate.  I think I would ...."know I would" loose my temper!  And that would not be a good Thing!!   I  gotta tell you Dan, after listening to the debate, I'm not sure people like Gene and the others could  or would ever change their  viewpoint.  They are the "ones" blinded!  Unfortunately they represent the  majority!  They're a tough, judgmental  bunch and very unyielding.

I wish I could say I feel  uplifted, by the debate,  but the truth is this is so disheartening, it makes me wonder why I am working so hard to do this book, it feels like an exercie in futility, and   it's  all I  can do to keep the faith.    Did you ever feel like that??? But I'm going to press on!!  You , Patrick, Anthony, the  authors of One God and One Lord, TruthorTradition.com  keep me going!  And let's face it Dan, the old adage "where  there's smoke  there's  fire" ......well, if   this  1700 year old doctrine was  grounded, and solidified in  truth and had such a strong foundation....  why is it still smoltering??  Gotta be something  wrong somewhere!!!  That fact alone should give one  (with a thinking brain) pause.

Well again Dan, I really enjoyed the debate and  will be listening to it repeatedly.  It will also aid me in knowing
from which direction my  opponets  will be coming from.  You and Patrick held you own,  and are to be applauded.
I am not as well versed in the Greek or Hebrew  or have the biblical  expertise  as you, but I have learned enough to know you'll  did very well, and  I was familar with the scriptures you used to substantiate your argument.   Anthony's book has been worth it's weight in gold, and has been so instrumental in  my acquiring the knowledge I have since researching the Trinty.

God Bless and have a nice day, and KEEP up the wonderful work.
